Awww, that is to sweet! But are ya sure hes not just finding them but stealing them from a nest somewhere?! (Someone might have mentioned that and I overlooked it?) But best of luck to you and the babies at getting them rehabbed and back where they belong. Good luck.

My cat only brings me nasty half chewed up mice.

The dogs bring me mangled moles.

Sadly not a soul is bringing me flowers or chocolates. Clearly there is something wrong with my life...
Hmmm...

These little ones are starving....VERY thin and VERY dehydrated. My son found a dead squirrel yesterday in the wooded area between us and the neighbors...could have been the mom. ???? Somehow I believe the mom is not around because she wouldn't let her babies get so thin. They are approx 5 weeks. They can't get that thin from being abandoned at birth....so who knows?

M@M@2four :

I do wild-life rehabilitation. Esiblac is actually not the best stuff--can cause diarrhea. PM me and I'll tell you what I do. I curently have a six month old little girl squirrel(bald and eyes sealed shut when we got her). I'll release her in the Spring as soon as it warms up. Have you raised them before? You need to help them pee and poop by gently wiping them with a warm cloth. The mother does this. If not, they don't know quite yet how to pee and poop and it can actually kill them. I do this right after feedings.

Oh yes, we're old hats at squirrel raising...these little ones are 5 weeks old and should be able pee/poo on their own by now, but until I see if for myself, I am stimulating them after feeding.

We're under advice of our local vet....these little ones are sure to make it to release day!

Thanks so much!!

Do they tent (pull the skin up between there shoulder blades ud it stays like a tent) they are dehydrated and you will want to keep them on the pedelight(spelling sorry) until they don't tent also make sure they are warm before you feed them. I think you are great for taking care of them so many people would not do what you are doing! You rule!

YEP...they have a heating pad underneath (with room to move away when they are warm)...they drank about 1cc of Pedialite a piece (then drifted off to sleep in furry balls in my lap)....

Lucy--the one found last night--ate her first round of puppy milk at lunch today and eagerly ate this evening. Tomorrow, the boys will get their milk.) Once that happens, they will get mashed bananas left in the cage during the school day. They have their bottom teeth so they may appreciate a snack.

Love raising these little guys. KellyHM is right....living in FL gives you a great many opportunities to rehab critters from all the wind damage to trees and knocking down nests.

M@M I have to ask what you feed your baby squirrels. I have been do this for years and we use esiblac with great success. I have a very high release rate.
