Isn't it amazing how they come out looking like wet furry lizards then transform into THE MOST CUTEST FLUFFIES!

Thanks!!! You are right! Another little mottled bantie Cochin hatched today and it's so tiny, and has much of its fuzz all stuck down and not looking like the cutest little thing

I know it will be all fluffy in a day or so; if not, I'm giving it a little bubblebath! The 1st 4 are in a brooder box and have learned all about food, water, and grit already. This 5th baby has to strengthen up a bit, then she'll (?) go in too. I've got 1 more egg like that, but it hasn't pipped yet. Then I have 2 more of my chickens' eggs (Silkie X Frizzle I think) that went into that hatcher today (day 18) so hopefully I'll have 2 little buff Sizzles in a few days.

(Side note: Did you get mottleds from someone else? If not and you're referring to babes from mine, they won't be mottled when they finish their adult molt. I don't know why mine white so much as babies, but they should be solid black or blue (whatever color they end up being) by the time they are adults.
