As I was looking at the birds, very attactive by the way, I was thinking that they look like they might be able to fly well, so I you ansered that question.

I had a couple of mixed breeds I bought at an auction at about a month of age and by the time Thanksgiving rolled around I had to shoot them to be able to butcher them. They flew like wild one.

They are very nice looking, Katy. I want to get some turkeys, after I'm really sure my DH isn't going to kill me over the rescue broilers.

Got a question: I have always read to keep your turkey and chickens apart. But when I was growing up we never did. So what is the truth and does it all just depend on how clean you keep your coops? Thanks for the answer. Glad to be your friend and I think not knowing too much about you will keep it that way...LOL Would love some turkeys? All these love bugs keep biting me...lol

hahaha! honestly, I know nothing about turkeys. I brought them home and tossed them out in the coop with similar sized chicks. a day or so later I thought I should read up on them, and found out how fragile they are and that I should never mix them with chickens. Well I was bummed but I figured I had already signed their death warrent. So I just left them out there . . . they free range all day and night now. Occasionally they break into one of the chicken coops but for the most part they like their freedom. although they do hang with the freeranging chickens and ducks most of the day . . . IDK, they look like they are doing great to me. I guess we'll see if they get some strange chicken disease.
