I received 103 Cornish X today from Central Hatchery. 1 DOA
They where $.65 ea. plus 17.62 Shipping. They hatched yesterday!
They are very active and eating like crazy right out of the box.
I am trying a new feed experiment. A farmer will grind me organic corn, bean mill, calcium, and minerals for $300.00 per ton (2000lbs) 20% protein. I will feed 1-50lb bag of chick starter and then I am going to feed the 102 birds the feed until gone and then to freezer camp.
2000lbs should take them to about 8-9 week.

and I thought my 30 that came in yesterday was a handful... you've got LOTS of hands full.

Let us know how the feed works out...and what they dress out as.

Yep, 1 ton should last to about 8 weeks. It will be very close, though, so make sure that you can buy a couple bags here or there should the need arise.

$300/ton for organic feed? Jeepers! What a great price! And it's a great price on the chicks. Anything that works out to under $1 per chick is a steal.

I am very happy with Central Hatchery, They don't take credit cards you have to mail checks but, it keeps there cost low.

I will post updates and Average Weights.

Here is the Chicks they handle.
