Look what followed my ducks home!

I have no idea what it is but it sure is cute

I would definately call a Game Warden for help with identification and if it's legally possible, adopt that little guy!
He looks so friendly...

Look at the feet. Are they webbed like a duck's, or are they lobed, like the pic below?

Grebes are known for their lobed toes that function similarly to the webbed feet of ducks, but represent a different evolutionary answer to the same problem of propulsion in the water. If your bird has feet like the pic, it's a species of grebe.

Hi! have you checked the okie thread??

ok, contacted wildlife rescue, looks like a grebe, but what i can't figure is we are in a drought, so there aren
't any ponds or creeks currently- other than the kiddie pool for the ducks- but there he was following them around

Perhaps it got lost when following its parents along the migration route, if it's less than a year old. Then it just looked for "something" that reminded it of mom and dad.

I nursed one back to health that had been blown into a brick wall. I fed him feeder goldfish in a shallow bowl of water. He would lay on his towel with his feet kicked out behind him. Looked like a popsicle.
