Well we got as far as getting the welded wire up along the horse fence to use that as the back and got the floor out and leveled. It is starting to get late and I have to start cleaning and feeding the animals.

The young horses were all about helping while we were putting up the wire!

Didn't take a picture of the floor once it was leveled. I will get one tomorrow morining before we start. The cement pylons made it easy to level and will keep the wood off the ground.

Well another trip to Home Depot down this morning. Got paint, roofing materials and some 1X3's to start doing trim work then back home to get the walls up. It was pretty chilly today and looked like it was going to rain so no painting the coop outside and didn't get the roof done but we are getting closer to being done.

First wall to go up.

Second wall going up. That is DH screwing in the lag bolts. I absolutely needed help on putting up the walls.

Third wall up can't wait to hang the nest boxes in there. Just got to get the paint on the outside done first.

All four walls up! Started working on the roof but will have to finish that tomorrow.

Parts and pieces for the pop door, people door and the nest boxes painted. At least I got some of the painting done.

The coop is looking so good out there. I can't wait to get the chickens into their new home!

Nice Job! And what a beautiful place......fantastic sky!

I like the Coops for Dummies book as well and made some modifications to my own plans from it but I think it's a little off with respect to the number of chickens it claims each coop will hold. They are certainly not allowing for 3 sq ft per bird.

What are you planning to use for the roof?

We were going to just put up corrigated PVC but we have decided to put sheeting under the PVC. I am worried that the PVC might crack without enough support under it when the temps get down below zero here. Luckily, I totaly over estimated how much sheeting I needed for the walls so I have enough to go under the PVC.

Very impressive. You are making me want to get that book. I bet your husband is very proud of you......... that...... or he could be nervous wondering what you might do when you are finished.

Looks Great! I was going to wait to build mine till DH could do it, but your posts are giving me the courage to try to build the coop by myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
