LOOK What We Got Today....!!!

Our best buddies in life have been 'adopted'. We had a lab/collie that was so very special - died of age related illness at 12 years old - a pound puppy. Another GS mix lived almost 15 years!

Day Three

Max stayed outside all by himself again last night in his doghouse. We left the window open so we could hear him if he wasn't happy - never heard a peep! Max is not a barker. Hallelujah! He is very quiet and dignified, even at this tender young age. I have never been able to tolerate 'yappy' dogs, so this is a match made in heaven.

Max and the girls get along just fine now. They act as if he has been around all along - and he pretty much ignores them. We will not trust him until he gets older, but I'm thinking we have really hit the jackpot when it comes to a dog that will defend the girls instead of harming them, and that's what we were after.

Max is exploring the boundaries of the farm. Today we had to call him back twice because he went too far. I'm sure he will really push that envelope when he gets older.

We're just really thrilled with Max. We couldn't ask for a better dog!

Are you kidding! ?? Of course we want and need your chicken training tips! Yes YES AND YES!

I just have to brag again on Max... tonight it is raining hard with thunder and some lightning. We thought we would bring Max inside thinking he would be frightened. NOT! He is snuggled against the blanky in his house... fast asleep.

Oh, by the way, enjoy the barkless months while they are hear. If there is any Pyr in Max, he will find his bark ... it's a coming. Buit, hey, that's why you got a guard dog. They need to define your and their teritory.

You've got a few more weeks of good boy. When he hits 4 mos old he will become selectively deaf. When their baby teeth fall out, their brains fall out too. It will grow back, along with the new teeth, but it will have a slightly more independent air to it.

LOL! It is so true.

I think it was at 1 yrs old when our Pyr became an obstinate teenager. Oh the barking and the running and the chasing of chickens. Her interaction with the chickens had to be limited and we needed to watch her constantly. But, we lived through it. Now it just the frequent barking that we deal with.

Ok, I read this to my husband and we nearly fell out laughing.

I have to say, those sharp little baby teeth won't be missed... but his sweet nature and his brain will.

Thanks for the laugh.
