look who wandered onto my property!!! updated pics at end

I wouldn't be surprised if your beautiful Aussie is a "put out" dog, as we say around here. You know, the pet that wasn't what they thought it would be, so they bring it to the country and "put it out", just knowing that someone will take it and care for it and love it. I get so angry when a new pet shows up on my doorstep, lost, hungry, scared, confused. I hope I'm wrong about your pup, but Aussies can be a handful, and people buy them not knowing how "special" they are. Good luck finding the owner, and if you don't, enjoy your new partner. One word of advice from an ex- Aussie mom, buy a book about Aussies, it helped me.

High energy dog, beautiful, kept waiting for that post, the dog ate my chickens. If she truly is a "put" out dog, she probably inst exhibiting her normal behavior yet. These are social work dogs and right now she is might be on her best "behavior" because she dose not know what to expect either in her new pack, so she is probably being over all submissive.

By the way I wouldn't let her growl or act dominant to anything you don't want her messing with. If she is in the submissive state towards you , just a simple deep no will do , no need to shout. If she starts even exhibiting play behavior towards the chickens I wouldn't allow it.

She is indeed a very handsome dog, I hope all works out for you exactly as is should.

I agree with Mark, there is a "honeymoon" period. You should be able to tell for sure in about 2-3 weeks but do stop the growling at the other dogs or anything else. I think she will be your dog for sure.

Thats so amazing, she really does like you.
I get strays wandering into my front yard, they always know where to come for help.
Pls try and get her checked for a microchip.
We have cases here where a dog or cat was taken from interstate!!!!then when it went to the vet the original owners were traced and there have been some amazing stories.
Just a thought.

newchickowner,

You found my dog!!! I wonder how she made it to you all the way from NC. OK you can send her back to me now.

Just kidding! She beautiful. I feel bad if her owners lost her but at the same time it's great that you found her.

By the way, I went all over the place today, no signs of missing dogs on any street in a 10 mile radius, no lost dog flyers at any feed stores or grocery stores. Tomorrow I'll check the vets and the shelters. In the mean time, the kids and I are enjoying her thoroughly! My b/f is sort of staying away from her, I think he doesn't want to get attached incase her owner shows up, but he's blaming it on working night shift and being too tired to go outside.

Please please, post an ad on "petdetective.com" or on "criagslist.com" ---don't give alot of detail on craigslits, but I've had 2 black labs either stolen or lost and not returned in the last 2 years!!! One of my dogs was a high dollar hunter and was "missing" right at the opening of pheasant season and the other was a rescue we got from an omish farm up north where someone "dumped her" but she looked like a pure bred, so we believe we have a thief or possibly it's our terrible neighbor, but please have her checked at a vet for a chip and check with your local vets for "lost dog" ads. We posted everywhere and were unable to come up with either of our two "girls" they were family to us and we miss them terribly.

petdetective.com led me to this site, fidofinder.com, and I put an add on there. I searched lost dogs and none were listed in my area for any lost dogs. But my plan is to check the vets offices and shelters tomorrow. I really don't want to take someone's pet, and she is healthy, she has fleas (and my animals didn't) but that's it. Nice, white, healthy teeth, she's of healthy weight, coat, & doesn't appear to have been abused. Again I'd be heartbroke if I was her owner and lost her. So I am giving great effort to finding her owners. There are many, many dogs roaming the streets around here, from owners not keeping their pets in their yards to dump-offs. It's hard to tell how or why she was on my property. I usually know the norm's that roam around regularly and she's not one of them. I'd never seen her before yesterday.

more updates to come tomorrow.

she sounds like a healthy young dog, I wish you luck in finding the owner and if not, you have a wonderful addition to your family!! Best wishes to you!!

Also, I'm sorry it's petrescue.com or petfinder.com

Keep us updated!!!

Wow, you are a sweety going to the trouble of advertising. The owners are the ones who should be, but sometimes wires get crossed too.
You really need closure as to her past!
Hey, maybe something happened to her owner!!!!
Just ask anyone who knows me here where I live, im a conspiracy theorist!!!
Anyhow if you have tried everything else just relax and start bonding then post 1 ad in a paper saying that if anyone has lost her, she has found a loving home, and that you looked everywhere for a lost sign. anonymous!
Damn I just thought, My neighbour here lost a dog like that. In Australia!!!!
