Thanks Henmama. Thats not it. Ergh. I'm thinking not Richard Scarry.
I keep remembering other stories out of it, in bits and pieces.
Halloween- the Kids went to Mr. Fox's house(he wasn't very nice), and he scared them.
A family of squirrels moved into Mr. Fox's attic. They rolled nuts around and made lots of racket and Mr. Fox would beat on the ceiling with a broom. Mrs. Squirrel thought he liked them.
In the Christmas story, Santa came while all the little animals were still awake.
A bee/fly got into the storekeepers place(which was very dusty) and he was swatting at it with a rag which was cleaning the place. He ended up wiping up all the dust by accident!
It snowed and they made sleighs out of an old wooden barrel.
There were a lot of stories in the book. ACK!!
I can remember story lines but nothing about the author or title.
For some reason I keep thinking the author was female. And I'm pretty sure the book is out of print, I think it was old when I was reading it, though I remember the book being in good condition.
Oh, and the illustrations seemed to be a little more streamlined than Richard Scarry.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help! You are a great bunch!
