Ok, I hate to ask your age but I need to know about what year this book would have been published, or at least what years you would have been reading it. I found one that could be it but was published in 1988 and if you were born in, say, 1960 then obviously that couldn't be it.

When I was a little girl back in the early 70s my primary school used to show us this movie as a treat from time to time. Like you, I wondered what the movie was. After a lot of researching, I found it, it's called The Selfish Giant. I now own a copy of it.

I was born in 1986. Was reading it from about 5-10. I don't know how old the book was. Wish I remembered!

I think I know the one you mean, and it was by Richard Scarry. It was a great big book, or seemed that way when I was little! I think my parents still have it, i'll ask them if we can't track it down here.

The book I was talking about that was published in 1988 is called Richard Scarry's Best Times Ever: A Book About Seasons and Holidays

It is out of print and I can't find a picture of it anywhere, but I did find a review of it on Amazon and here is what the reviewer wrote...

The animals of Busytown celebrate various holidays and enjoy the seasons. The book starts with May Day in spring, including a dance around the maypole. The Fourth of July is celebrated with a picnic and summer continues with a family summer vacation. When autumn arrives, the Pig family visits a farmstand and, in late November, they prepare for Thanksgiving. Finally, the winter comes, bringing outdoor fun like skating - and Christmas, of course!
