Looking for a breed that goes broody often

In your state it won't be too hard to find some. Even if you look through Craigslist try the keywords american game, gamecock, gamefowl, or even words like Kelso, Roundhead, Hatch, Sweater, Mcclean, or Morgan. Some may be expensive, some may be cheap.

Get only hens though unless you're prepared for the fact that gamefowl roosters are indeed bred to fight one another without question. Very very good with people, the most stable and non-aggressive you can get, just not at all to other roosters.

Guess I won't be getting a rooster. I have two already and they tolerate each other in their run but are happier when I let them range after the hens are done laying for the day. Our one rooster is huge and become a pet (we even named him Roger. Only the keepers get named) and our other one started our whole chicken endeavor. He's been attacked by 2 different dogs and still living unfortunately his brother and partner in crime died with the last attack. I don't think they'd appreciate being attacked by a newcomer. lol
