looking for a state with cheap housing and farmland

Dangit Scrambled Egg - I live in Chatham and it's my policy to never, ever, tell people on the internet to move here! Chatham county is lovely, but that beauty is fast disappearing as development takes over. Cary is taking over eastern Chatham. And subdivisions are popping up all around Pittsboro. It breaks my heart.

How about the Northern states? South Dakota you can buy land for aproximately $400 an acre. We pay taxes twice a year, and we have good farm ground. We are a very open state, and you will have to drive to get somewhere, unless you can find a place in the Black Hills; then it's not so far away to the city. It does get cold here, but it don't last more than 4-5 months. The summers get hot here too, but it's a pretty state with lots to see.

We went to Holly Springs and Cary last night to look at the lights and OMG it was awful how the McMansions are taking over. What does someone do with all those rooms. I'ts a shame.

That sounds perfect!New jersey is turning into a major city as well now. all the farms are being bought out for more houses. There are new houses across the street from me where a beutiful field once laid. These houses are huge as well. 5 bedrooms and 3 stories on them.

Well then it's settled -- you'll buy my place (15-20 minutes from Nashville and Murfreesboro), I'll introduce you to my investment guy so the leftovers can properly support you and your chickens, then I'll get to move closer to my family and you'll get a place that already has chicken facilities in place! Sounds like a plan to me............
