I have decided that I will feed my new flock All Flock Feed instead of layer pellets because I will have a mix of ages and I’ll also have 4 sebright bantam pullets who are an ornamental breed and I don’t want them consuming too much calcium. I really like the Dumor Feed brand but I don’t know if they sell an All Flock feed. I buy my feed from Tractor Supply Co. but I guess I could look into Schaefer’s Farm to buy feed at as well since they’re both the same distance away. What feed brands sell an All Flock feed in pellet or crumble form?

Flock raiser equivalent feed seems to be sold under various names; grower, mixed flock..... and different TSCs carry different things. I would go to my local stores and read the labels of what they have available. You want low calcium and high protein (look at the label of a good flock raiser online for comparison). Then look at the mill dates on the type you choose and make sure they are stocking fresh feed of that sort.

Also, don't discount your sebrights as ornamentals just yet, mine were champion layers :)

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely look at the feed when I got to TSC in the future.

Dumor has a starter/grower that's 20%. TSC also carries Nature Wise meatbird feed that's 22% protein. I use a local mill turkey/gamebird finisher as an all flock that's also 20%.

Make sure you look at the ingredients if you decide on this. I know at least at one time Nutrena used cottonseed meal in their chick starter, but don't know if it would be in their meat bird feed. I wouldn't feed cottonseed meal to layers, so just check. That's where it can get tricky with the recommendation for higher protein feed not expressly made for layers. Just a heads up.

Thank you so much for the heads up Cindy! I will first look for an All Flock feed and if I can’t find one I’ll have to compromise.
