If anyone could help me find some, direct me to a link to find some i will be eternally grateful. i have been to the local poltery sales and i missed some chicks a couple weeks ago been kicking myself every sense.

Thank you & God Bless

I know they're out there. Try posting in the Buy Sell Trade catagory, and subscribe to that topic. You may get some hits!
Good luck!

I have some Welsummer hens and I just bought 5 more babies from LilEmily'sChicknPen when I was in Florida. But, my hens aren't laying yet............I got them in October........

But honestly, are you looking for brown eggs or DARK BROWN EGGS? Welsummers lay almost chocolate colored eggs. And from what I understand aren't the most prolific layers. If you want plentiful brown eggs, try a Black Sex Link or a Red Sex Link AKA Black Star and Red STar. They start laying early, and lay nearly every day, and are the friendliest of my chickens...

Also Check out the buy, sell, trade section in the index. And if you google Welsummers a BYC post almost always pops up.

Hey guys, Thanks so much for the message! I looked at the link that was provided above and they are sold out too........I know Felisha (LilEmilysChicknPen ) usually has some eggs available. Drop her a line, and see if she does!

I think you can search for her and send her a PM.

I would give Estes Hatchery a call. They are nice people to deal with and they have some beautiful birds. I gotten birds from them and the chicks arrived very healthy and when they started laying at 24 weeks they laid a very dark egg.

R@ndy :

This breeder has Great birds and I have bought from him and I am very pleased.

Good Luck

Yes, I have heard things about these people also.

And it is my understanding that the Estes Hatchery people mentioned by someone else got their Welsummer flock from a breed who sold out who was very good. and had nice birds.

Yes Estes Hatchery bought out all of Calicowoods Welsummers when Harry Shaw died suddenly of a heart attack. I think it happened about three years ago but not sure. He had some good Welsummers and he was a wonderful person to talk to and deal with. I bought some of his Porcelain DUccles and they were ok quality. Nothing like Shagbark Poultry would have had.

I got my welsummer from Ideal in September. They are all laying. One even went broody and hatched out 15 chicks. The roaster is an ameraucanas, so the chicks are mixed breeds. My welsummer eggs are not as big as my black sexlnks, but they are a whole lot darker. very choc. It will be interesting to see what color the new chicks will lay.
