I'd like to give my birds a more gradual transition to darkness. I'd just run the light in the early-AM, but I find that running it in the evening helps remind them to go back to their coop instead of our porch

Does anybody know of some good light timers that dim instead of abruptly cutting off the light? I've found some from the UK, but they're a bit expensive.

Thanks

I am thinking that anything that you would find, is going to be expensive. I thought of the lamps that are used for seasonal depression. I believe that those lamps work using a dimmer to go both ways.

A simple on and off timer works for chickens. They adapt to the sudden changes in light. My girls tend to stay in the coop even with the light on. They mostly just roost and chatter amongst themselves during the extra hours of light that we give them.
