Hi All,
Has anyone had this happen to them? I have found on two different occasions what appears to be maggots at the bottom of my chickens water bowl. They are small tan worms-definitely look like maggots. they are still alive in the water. I'm grossed out and don't know what to do. I am definitely not leaving the water bowl out over night anymore. How can this be happening??
I will try and get a pic to post.

Tent caterpillars rain down tiny tan worms from trees just as you describe. Look up above where you have the water bowl. If you see big "webs" strung from the branches and leaves, you have tent caterpillars. Harmless critters and great snacks for chickens.

You must be down under where it's summer. A couple years ago, I went on a picnic and hike. Sat down under some trees to eat and worms were falling like rain drops from the trees into the food. Good times.
