LOS ANGELES county CA under bird quarantine :(

Do you belong to any other, local to you, social media type sites... That are talking about this? (Specific to your area)
I do. It’s very strange because I haven’t seen anything from any neighbors yet. I’m wondering if no one wants to identify themselves as owning chickens. But honestly the city I live in almost everyone has some sort of farm animal in their yard lol.

How are you gonna break the news to your little munchkin? Better prepare the little one for what's to come..........

If I were you, I'd say the chicken ran away to live in the zoo with all his animal friends. But of course, the truth is much darker than that. :(
I’m going to wait until I get a for sure notice so I don’t upset her for no reason, but I always try to be honest and not sugar coat things. She knows the animals get sick and die.i don’t want to raise her thinking a goldfish ran away lol. So if I do get a notice I won’t explain the whole thing but I’ll just say they’re sick and have to go so other animals don’t get sick.

she said they will leave the yellow paper at every door. it is my understanding that every pet owner will have to call to make an appointment. i'm guessing the honor system and hefty fines for violation will motivate most.

they'll know i have chickens...you can hear my girls from the street. Cutie yells for me when i pull up, like a doggie waiting at the door. or if she wants a treat, or if she wants to free range-dang, cutie is just a loud tiny t-rex! there's no hiding her. (not that i would)
I’d like to see a video of your homecoming!

Well as to button quail, quail in general are considered game birds, plus quail were mentioned in the notice that went out. That's why I posted my initial question. The jump was made by statements here that seemed to indicate that if you are in a mandatory euthanization zone, all birds must be euthanized. I would be very happy to know I misunderstood that (even though at the moment I'm not in one of the mandatory euthanization zones).

Even if it is just limited to chickens, though, I still strongly disagree with euthanizing a healthy bird, a family pet that hasn't been kept with a flock and more than likely hasn't been exposed. I'm all for testing, I'm all for restrictions on selling birds, I'm all for euthanizing birds that are already sick, have been or have a high probability of having been exposed to sick birds or test positive for the disease. Its the "kill 'em all" approach I have a problem with.

I totally get you. I will bet you will be one of the lucky ones and will avoid all of this. Use your good voice at a time of your choosing with our governor to try to affect change for the future. You have a story to tell. Hugs.

Since they just announced the city I’m in as being mandatory euthanize yesterday I’m assuming it’ll take them a few days to get to everybody but I’m hoping we’re in a neighborhood that is excluded. I wish they had that information available but they don’t so it’s a waiting game right now. And thank you :)
i would call...press zero and speak with a person...or just press 1 for sick birds-at least you ll get someone to speak with. the woman i spoke with was nice and sounded apologetic. positive thoughts to u

just reading these, and reflecting on my practices and lifestyle. all i can think of is
BIO-SECURITY, BIO-SECURITY, AND BIO-SECURITY.
i thought i had good bio-security, but...I live near one of the cities mentioned, my dear offspring goes to school in that city. i have to drive there EVERYDAY. His shoes are on the playground, then in my backyard. the same backyard where i free range. we had a family discussion on this and will be changing our practices. i didnt know about lysol in the car...now i do. i will do all i can do to keep my birds safe and the virus from spreading. free range may be a thing of the past in LAC for a few years if the wild birds are spreading it, it wont go away soon. it sucks, really sucks, but i like to look for the positive. now we know and can do more for our chicken babies. hugs and lysol to all.
