It was her next door neighbor that got to keep the bird. She was elderly and wasn’t the one to care for outside birds- so no way to transfer to indoor bird from her. Another person in Fontana said they put the peacocks in Park down too and gassed the birds at a local foster farms place. Thanks!
just reading these, and reflecting on my practices and lifestyle. all i can think of is
BIO-SECURITY, BIO-SECURITY, AND BIO-SECURITY.
i thought i had good bio-security, but...I live near one of the cities mentioned, my dear offspring goes to school in that city. i have to drive there EVERYDAY. His shoes are on the playground, then in my backyard. the same backyard where i free range. we had a family discussion on this and will be changing our practices. i didnt know about lysol in the car...now i do. i will do all i can do to keep my birds safe and the virus from spreading. free range may be a thing of the past in LAC for a few years if the wild birds are spreading it, it wont go away soon. it sucks, really sucks, but i like to look for the positive. now we know and can do more for our chicken babies. hugs and lysol to all.
Are you sure Lysol will kill it. I know it won’t kill parvo virus. The disease is spread from "dander" or whatever you want to call it on shoes and clothes too.
Sit tight and wait for someone to knock on your door.
Keep Lysol in your car and spray your shoes before you go home.
Did you see the mandatory euthanasia order in the yellow box? That's never good..Anyone heard any updates? I just checked the CFDA website and didn't see anything new since Feb 27.
