LOS ANGELES county CA under bird quarantine :(

So resources I've read say that you need to keep wild birds away from your flock. I can do that, but my flock would be confined. And likely miserable. I'm wondering if I should confine them. I certainly don't want them to be euthanized and I absolutely don't want to contribute to the spread of vND, but I also don't want to torture my chicken girls.

Just typing my thoughts, here. But I read about our friends in SoCal, and the proverbial writing on the wall is coming into focus for NorCal now that we're hearing about Redwood City, and Tracy, and Fremont....

So I spoke with my friend in the USDA and she said she can’t tell me everything that is going on. She has told me certain details that she said not to reveal. :duc I don’t want her to lose her job. I hope you guys can understand.
Spill it!:old
She won't know you told us.

I’m just sick about this. There is a flock of juncos that was in my chicken pen all the time last year until I got it full enclosed in hardware cloth. They hadn’t been around in months, but now that spring is upon us, they go in through the gate while the flock is freeranging. I tell my border collie, “Go get the little birds,” and she enthusiastically chases them out.
I’ve alerted my mountain community (actually, had already brought it to their attention last week before it came up here). I’m going to call my local feedstore, too. I am worried about wildlife spreading it, too. This could end up having huge consequences. Where I live, just a few of the local, visible-on-a-regular basis birds we see include pigeons, wind turkeys, hawks, crows, ravens, scrub jays, woodpeckers, lots of finches and other small birds, Canada geese, mallard ducks... the list goes on and on. Mostly concerned about the ducks, turkeys and pigeons... and all the idiots who keep moving their fowl.
