LOS ANGELES county CA under bird quarantine :(

I just telephoned my hospital trying to get enrolled in medicare approved sensitivity training, they said they are out of funds because Los Angeles County is spending those dollars on a medicaid program for the undocumented.

I read on the internet that the hospital here is going to consider a eugenics program for the medicare sensitivity applicants. They referenced a sterilization program instituted by our government prior to WWII in the Brush Mountain area of Virginia.

Hmm anyone else getting a sense of deja vu regarding a government implementing a sterilization program on its people?

Right. But they were all suspended last year.

Right, but I remember reading that it was thought to have spread from county to county via poultry shows when the state was still sitting on their hands.

I suppose it feels better to have someone to blame instead of the disease being spread inadvertently by a song bird, a worker or whatever. It’s better to put a face on it so everyone can jump on the bandwagon. Still no proof. Not “most likely” or “probably” or any other theory. The climate is so similar in Southern California and Mexico along with many people going back and forth for many different reasons any of which could have brought the disease.
Seems like a witch hunt to me but go ahead it’s pretty entertaining.

I have lived in southern california and my children participated in raising farm animals there, including showing them, as did their friends, some of whom were in this country illegally. I HAVE SEEN WITH MY OWN EYES because I spent time at their homes with the families and their animals. I've seen the roosters after the fights. So get off your high horse, it's sad and terrible that things like this happen and people turn a blind eye. I don't find it at all amusing.

I don’t recall asking you whether or not you found it amusing or not. I don’t particularly care. I’m saying there’s no proof.

Haha. Ok. You have proof where the VND came from with 100% certainty. You’re the only one then.

I'd like to see a quote where I said that. I said shows, didn't I say shows? Yup it's right there in print I said poultry shows. I didn't say I know I said I had read it was spread that way. Try again sweetheart :)

Keyword is theory. Nothing but wild assumptions.
Exactly. If it can be spread by wild birds who's to say some bird didn't fly to Mexico, get infected and them migrate back over here and infest California? It's always easier for some people to blame the outsiders. "Oh it's those dang Mexicans with their cock fights!" Well it could very well be some elderly white lady named Karen and her bird feeder actually lol

I gave you a "like" for your post but I was offended by the words:
elderly-white-lady-Karen :lau

In today's victim culture everyone is a victim and is easily offended if they choose to be.
Divide and conquer

Yes I suppose most ladies named Karen were born in the 70s and 80s and are not yet elderly, they also come in all colors not just white!:D

If you know that when CDFA agents come knocking that they will kill your birds in brutal fashion will you just hand them over? What if they would kill dogs this way would people be criticized for hiding their dogs?

This is an emotional and not really a valid comparison for a number of reasons. 1) Dogs don't live in flocks. You deal with them, for the most part, 1 or 2 at a time. 2) Because they aren't living in such close proximity as flocks do they wouldn't spread disease in the same manner. 3) Dogs, generally speaking, follow commands. If a dog needs to be put down, you say "come" and the dog comes, "stay" and the dog stays while you administer a single shot.

But, beyond that, if dogs were spreading an incurable disease with 100% mortality in the same manner as vND the answer would be YES, you put down your afflicted pet in the interest of other people's pets.

Euthanizing birds in a flock is an entirely different matter and we can all stipulate that it's chaotic and difficult. That doesn't change the necessity of protecting unthreatened area and flocks from the threat of contagion.
