Hello Everyone
Does anyone know what this might be? They seem a bit young for moulting. For about five weeks they have been gradually losing their top feathers. A couple of weeks ago we saw a red mite on one of them so have been dusting them and the coop with anti parasite powder weekly. Haven't seen any mites since. They still seem to be losing the top layer of gingery feathers. They are still laying fine and are about ten months old.
We have seven chicks in the back garden. Three commercial layers, two white sussex, one Cheshire blue and Blue Star. We have had the first five in that list for about six months. The other two only a couple of weeks. It's the older commericals that are affected. They use to be so glossy!
Any ideas or is it just waiting for them to recover after red mite?
Thanks
Jamie
