How old should chicks be before they can be around older ones? Or is this possibly more about them being from different flocks?

Thanks for the coop size recommendations, we'll have to figure out something that makes sense for us! We do have the space at least.

Usually you can't just mix different chickens together.
They can and do kill each other.
It takes time, sometimes weeks to integrate two flocks.
