LOST 4 CHICKENS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS - HELP!!!

Can you try moving the light to the area where they're huddling and see what happens?

If you moved them from a brooder to the big coop, maybe they're overwhelmed by all the space and don't have enough sense to stay under the light instead of in the corner.

Those are just my thoughts.

If they move away from the light after you move it to where they're huddling, then you know something else (very strange and unfamiliar) is happening.

sounds like they are scared of their new surroundings. I had some before that would just freak out for no reason. Try to seperate them and keep them seperated. Or put them back where they are use to. Then put them back in the morning when there is light that way they can explore. When you start putting them back in to the new home be sure to put them in there 3 at a time. that way they can look get acclimated and not get trampled. When you add new ones the older ones will be calm and relaxed the new ones will see that it is ok and they should calm down too.

I agree with this very much... when I read climbing ontop of eachother in the corner, I immediately think they are scared, EXTREMELY scared, not cold. I agree too with the method.. with this addition.. try removing a few of the most panicked until the group calms down. Once a couple of them are ok with the new place the rest will figure it out if you go little by little.

This is why i get chicks used to a box, or stuffed animal, so that when i move them into a new place the familiar object comes with and they are much better transitioning.. a security blanket.

I hope this helps, I'm sorry your losing them. Hopefully one of the ideas on here will help you.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post. I didn't loose any more last night. Thank goodness. Don't know what went on, maybe they were all shook up on the BIG move.

Thanks again!
