18 eggs which came through the US Mail in perfect condition; zero results. Today was Day 23. The past several days the weather here in La has been wild--we had a record breaking high of 95 on Wed & today a high of 73--actually felt chilly outside. The temps and humidity have swung wildly these past 4 days & I know that was the majority of the problem. I had six still living last Tues night.
There was only one egg that chirped & tried to pip, and it broke my heart that it didn't make it. It wasn't fully formed even, so there was no chance.

I'm going to concentrate on raising my little chicklets from Meyer--do not have the heart to go through attempting to incubate again this year. I put the homemade bator in storage; out of sight & out of mind for now.

Terrilachicks ~ I'm so sorry to hear that ~ it could have been so many things ~ humidity, turnings, infertile eggs, and, as you stated, even weather swings during shipment. Also, I have heard that sometimes being zapped en route, with postal regs and all, can also affect fertility. I have never actually incubated any eggs myself because I am just too worried the very same thing will happen ~ but you are better off than me, at least you gave it a try! Here's to your little Meyer chicklets ~ We can only do our best, if that isn't perfect, well, no-one is, so join the ranks ~ {;>)=

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day!!! ( you don't have to have a bator full of fresh -hatched chickies to be a good mommy)

I too am afraid of incubating! I know the results are not always good and I think it is something that takes a little practice. There could have been a number of reasons they did not hatch and I certainly do not know what they are. I'm sorry but at least you have the chicklets.

I'm so sorry.
I have had many attempts at hatching fail.
I just can't give up.

Good luck with your chicks.

Don't give up. Only one way to learn and that is by doing. Yours eggs probably got damaged in shipping. Try to find some local eggs and give it another try. Best of Luck to you.
