Barred Rock rooster. Probably somewhere around 3 - 4 months would be my guess as well.

Sorry, WWIT, but I've gotta vote with the cockerel folks. This looks WAY too light to be a pullet. My BR roo looked very much like that at that age, and is now a big strapping and even slightly lighter looking (very defined narrow bars w/ white) black & white, while Betty (BR hen) is much darker looking with less definition in the barring. Hope your fella is a good roo!

I'm thinking it's a roo also. I've got 5 BRs that are 2 months old.

I know you all keep making my sad by saying she is a he.... but look how dark the roo is in the pic of the week. Could it be she is just a light hen????

I'm with whoever said it was a cookoo Maran. Looks just like the Roo I just rehomed. Marans have flesh colored legs BR are orange

purr....the cockerel DOES have yellow legs. Not pale or pearl colored like a Maran at all.

Aside from the coloring, look at his comb and wattles. It is much bigger than the hens of that age have. Sorry, but I'm convinced its a roo.
