If she got in there is a chance she got back out. I would grab a flashlight and see if she is roosting near coop.

Did you try walking around the house saying "Marco....." I know she will say "Pollo" (remember the spanish word for chicken is Pollo, just pronounced a little differently). O.K. it's getting late, and I appologize for that, but I thought it was funny.

not sure if this is properly intuitive, but if there were droppings ALL over, could the chicken have been chased by something or scared by something ?

another think -- you have kids, did you check their toy boxes ?

is there anything in your house that might have had a lid that closed if bumped ... bread box ?

this is way out, but be sure you check the dryer vent !! have had two mice and one rat in ours ... oh yes, check IN the dryer and the washing machine !

could be that the chicken is trapped or caught where it cannot be heard

Been there, done that with a chicken hiding in the house! I left the side door open and BlackJack came in at dusk while I was visiting my neighbor in the front yard. When I did the head count in the coop and saw that someone was missing, my neighbor & DH helped me search everywhere. BlackJack was perched on a grapevine wreath in the bedroom! Because she was so still and quiet, we didn't see her even though we walked right by her.

Very funny Lacy!!! That chicken has found her someplace nice and soft to lay an egg!! She should be out thismorning looking for her breakfast...she might like some scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and grits, lol!!
