sorry for your loss! just wanted to let you know I think your two chicks (unknown ones) are Welsummer's. They look just like the two we have. pretty bird, but ours have found their way to the bottom of the pecking order. they aren't very friendly either, hopefully yours will be better.

So sorry to hear what happened! It must have been a horrible scene, and I know you feel helpless. We lost our first hen, she had to be put down. Not sure what got to her, but it might have been a coop injury. You have a nice setup there! Good luck on the search. I am thinking coyote or raccoon.

After careful thought, and the addition of the bottom wire, I decided to let the cat free where I caught it. It was not worth the drive to the pound, or a drive anywhere for that matter. I'm sure it prob belongs to a neighbor, and in the back of my head, I could see some poor old lady greving over her lost cat. I think the electric fence will keep it away, and I'm sure it was not the culprit anyways.

The reason these two chicks made it, was because they roost in a tree above the coop. Mine are feisty. They hate to be caught and held. Don't seem to like people too much. Fast little buggers too!

I love my Welsummer! She lays a beautiful dark, freckled egg and she gets up in my lap sometimes if I am out sitting in a lawn chair. I wish I could find more.

We had a possum once that would eat parts of 1 or 2 chickens a night. We finally caught him and boy was he FAT. I wish you lots of luck!

I am green green green with envy! I so wish I had a property that looked like yours. The trees in the distance, the outbuildings, wow. Please tell me it's a 1000 degrees with 90 % humidity, and the roaches and mosquitos eat small children.
