Grrrrrrr! So I bought 3 call ducks today and was clipping wings when 2 of them decided they didn't want to be here anymore and took off across the road and into a cornfield....I tried to follow them through the field, but I was following by sound and couldn't see them......and they decided to become completely silent after a few and I had to give up looking because I had to get ready for work.

They are black and I guess bibbed? So pretty and I'm sooooo mad I lost them!!!!! I still have the male....it was the 2 girls that took off.

I put ads on craigslist and petfinder about them....I hope I can find them!!!

Sweetie you got your duckies????
And lost two already! OH BOY!
I do hope you find them...

Duncan and I spent the day digging out a pond. We are about half way on the digging.

I just sent you a pm.

but yeah....I am SO mad that the 2 of them took off on me!!! It was seriously like 30 seconds and they were off across the road!!!!!!!!

I took out my definitely female snowy and left her loose all day apart from her buddy so she would make lots of noise and hopefully draw them over...but nothing.

I sure hope no predators get them especially since their wings are clipped and they have no idea where they are!!!!!

yes...that does happen. I had 2 females take off but I still had their drake. I put him in a cage with shade and water....they came back. Don't give up yet. You might need a big net to catch them...like the big fishing nets.

so......I walked around for HOURS today....probably 4 or 5 miles....trying to see if I could find them....only to find that they are NEXT DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little....

The place next door is across a small "field" and has been abandoned for awhile and is very overgrown...I didn't even know it, but there is a pool in the backyard....and of course the duckies found that instead of coming to find their buddy... We were able to get them out of the pool.....but everytime they came out they ran into the overgrowth where we couldn't get anywhere near them! We are definitely in need of a large net........

They should be getting pretty hungry and a few pieces of bread goes a long way with waterfowl. What you need to do is create a funnel type trap, I have found that in order to catch my loose chickens, I take a loose roll of fence and unroll it slightly. It allows you to place a bait bird on the inside and then chase the loose bird around and around the loose rolls of fence until it joins the bait bird in the center.

Well i hope you do catch them it makes me so mad when stuff like that happens half of the time I just want to throw my hands up and quit but I keep trying and it gets done so dont give up! HAND IN THERE!

Oh wow....what a bummer. Maybe put food over there until you can get a net to catch them. At least you know where they are now.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
