Lost most of my chickens today...

Shelly, I replied to your PM, but I just now read this post. Here what I have to add:

Since the dog actually does belong to someone (not just a stray), I would strongly consider getting reimbursement!
Also, I'll be praying that your missing birds make it home safe-and-sound!

As sad as that would be, I unfortunately have to agree. First chance this dog gets he will do it again.

It's the irresponsible owners that make me the most upset.

David- this was a spaniel mix, so besides the high prey drive...a BIRD dog!

I have been carrying "The Judge" around with me all day. I was at the next door neighbors asking if any of my MIA's were over there, they weren't. And they came back! The other neighbor's house was across the street so I couldn't shoot it, I tried to call it down, but it went back up the street.

I'll be waiting bright and early tomorrow for it.

I think you are remembering me buying this house from the totally psycho people that we had to sue to make them honor the contract! I had a post about that a while back. I lost all my BR hens, but I have one baby roo that came running up to me screaming his little head off! So he is fine. My BR that looks to be a roo (slow bloomer) that is older is in my bathroom. He was the only one that survived the actual attack. He is really hurt, massive internal injuries, but might survive if he can make the night.

Thanks for the offer, though! The babies I lost were about 6 weeks old. I am hoping some of them show up. There are about 4 missing.

Still no sign of Violet. I really loved that BO. She was the sweetest thing. She wanted to "free range" in the backyard, and I wouldn't let her. I should have let her, and she would be here.

Oh well. Maybe she will show up with her BFF. There are too many missing, and no bodies for this one dog. They have to be hiding, but I am afraid they won't make it through the night with the predators we have here.

Thanks for all of the support. This is really hard. You always worry about it, but you never think it will really happen, you know?

That dog would be mincemeat.

I would get them to at least compensate your losses. Doesn't hurt what you're feeling but makes them more responsible. I have stray dogs run here all the time that is why I can't let mine run. I don't want to experience this ever!

Did you call the police so that at least you would have a report if something else happens or if you have to end up shooting the dog. This might be wise in case you end up having to go to court . Just a thought!! And Sorry about your loss- It is really discouraging and sickening to raise something and then have something just wipe it out in a matter of minutes.
