The only thing you can do is protect your flock. I have electric wire around my coops and pens, concrete under the gates and heavy duty netting covering all of the pens. I have had predators kill some of my birds. I did loose a couple of birds recently from a coyote. Somehow it got a gate opened. I now have the gate wired shut. This was my first loss it a number of years. I have several game cameras on my property that I check daily. Most of the time I get a predator on at least one of the cameras. I do eliminate the predators after a kill if I can. Here it's legal to kill a predator if they are preying on livestock. I lost over a dozen birds to the both the bobcat and a fox. Good luck...

I don't know who owns these Great Pyrenees, but I see them once in awhile roaming around on my property.

There are so many predators where we'll be, I hope we get as lucky are you are.

GodSpeed @NewBoots , find what type of predators prevail in your area and prioritize coop hardening as best as you can. Let me know if you need assistance!

Great post @cmom, very impressive.. and freaking recent too. It's a lot of work to keep those guys away. For most of us, the job description as chickeneers was a little vague on this.

I just put hunting cams all over on Tuesday. I can't download them all right now but 46 hits in 32 hrs... hopefully not all bunnies running around with diahreeahz (I do plant Metamucil around their holes).

My brother put's it under a bucket for the coons around his place. They love it and don't seem to come back.

i've killed a lot of bobcats over the years and seen what their claw marks look like on the dogs. those scratches look like they came from the dreaded 1/2" metal hardware cloth cat to me.
