That's good that you found him, is he alright as in did he get injured while frightened and scared?

Funny, but he didn't really recognize us. But what he did do was go to where there were chickens...he heard their roosters! And funnier, the Filipino lady who lived there was the one who caught him and stuffed him in the dog crate for us. He wanted nothing to do with me, or my husband. When we brought him home, Sapphire and all the chickens were outside, and first thing they did was run over and tried to peer into the car. Last I saw, Phoenix and Sapphire were conversing with each other through the wire of the big pen in the barn. Home at last and very tired.

I could just imagine he was telling Sapphire all about his adventures.

The weird thing was..and still is....how did Sapphire know the direction Phoenix was in? He was over a mile away, hard to believe he could hear him. And Sapphire wasn't calling....

Oh, and yes he seems ok. I grabbed him by the leg, trying to catch him, but I don't think he suffered any serious injury from anything. Just tired.

I was getting ready to burn pea calls to a CD, so that I could play them louder, on the car stereo. That probably would have worked, actually, their house wasn't that far from the road.
I was gonna put the pea flyers out today. Luckily for us, a lot of people in our neighborhood know that we have peacocks, as they strut their stuff every summer out in the field in front of our house.

He could have very well flew that far if he spooked, when they spook here every pea in the place honks and flys off or into the trees it only takes a couple to spook the entire flock.

last week we had a fly by/over from the resident owl, he / she had peas flying everywhere honking their heads off right at the break of day till i came out and shot off some roman candles to assure them he/she was gone they know that loud noise comes from the PVC pipe and you can see the way they watch what i am doing with it, soon as the fireworks are over they are fine but they will honk for an hour if i do not do my job and bang the owl away.

Now he thinks I am an evil evil witch though. After all, I tried to catch, kill and eat him! At least in his mind.

AND it was probably me that made those big booms and flashes. Yes, had to be.

We use bird bombs (you shoot em out of a hand pistol thing) to scare off predators, and our flock knows what those are, too.
Interesting how they learn.

What a relief to have the boy home again, I know from personal experience!
Don't worry, he will soon forget the whole incident and be back to his old friendly self!

New 2 pfowl is correct they get over being handled real fast or at least all mine do, i can just walk over and pick up any of my last years hatch but they do not like it nor do they expect it to happen , that is what makes it so easy

heck a couple of my guinea fowl were chasing each other and ran right between my legs , they screamed and i jumped as it kinda freaked us both out but they are like the peas, you got to wade thew them most of the time and they will not get out of your way, you got to go around, they just look at you like" you gonna run me over or go around"

We wade through the chickens all the time and they won't get out of the way. And Phoenix, before he left Saturday...was playing chicken with the lawnmower...wouldn't get out of the way.
But our peas are different, the boys are basically ok with us..especially Phoenix in the past..but the peahens, well....we are necessary evils as far as they are concerned. Can't get Sweetpea to eat out of my hand, and I've had her for almost two years. And Snap? Forget it!

Anyway Phoenix is ok today but quite obviously very tired. I still have him confined, I'm not gonna let him out til Thursday or Friday anyway, and then in the evening so he has to socialize
with the flock while still confined to the barn. Feeding him up and giving him goodies in the meantime.
