Lost Scout

Seeing the commotion Ruby was causing caused Mulush to head toward her and Orkhan. Not that Orkhan wasn't perfectly capable of handling a puny human female on his own, but Mulush didn't want to be left out of the fun. The girl would pay dearly for this move....

He moved so he blocked her path to the right, denying her escape that direction. "Where yous goin hummie?" he asked, grinning, as he cracked his own whip in her direction.

"No, I don't want to die. That's why I am not staying here," Ruby said and moved away from his club. She lightly flicked the whip to get the handle and looked at the orc, getting the feel of the whip. She tried to keep track of how much room she had between herself and the wall so she would have enough room to use the whip. Narrowing her eyes she sent the whip at the arm holding the club.

The whip, having been made and designed for the arm of an orc, was quite a bit heavier then Ruby was expecting as naturally, orcs are considerably stronger then the average human. As a result, it fell short and missed Orkhan's arm by about a foot. Her intention, however, was good enough to anger him as though she had actually struck him. "How dare you lash out against me, human..." His voice was rising in volume, enough to possibly attract more orcs from other areas of the camp. He swung the club hard and fast towards her chest, hoping to hit her while she was resetting her arm for a second swing.

Focused on punishing Ruby, Orkhan failed to notice Gytha slip past him to the wood pile. Her act was not missed, however, by one peculiar creature who was hanging around the outskirts of the working area. He approached her slowly and cautiously, but without the urgency of an orc who would be attempting to cut her off. When he got closer it could be seen that he wasn't an orc, but didn't look quite right to be a man either. The unlucky creature seemed to have been the unlucky candidate who possessed the most hideous qualities from both man and orc.

"Gyyyyytthaaaa..." He hissed in a low, unobtrusive tone. It was unclear how he even knew her name. "Where are you going, Gytha?"

As the orcish man noticed her attempted departure, Gytha knew the moment for swift action had come. He said something to her, but already she broke into a sprint, bolting away from the orc camp as fast as her legs would carry her. Had that creature said her name? The thought dawned on her only after she was sprinting toward the tree line, but she wasn't about to stop and find out what he had said.

Ruby glance to the other orc as he cracked his whip at her. She backed from him, unintentionally causing Orkhan to miss with his club. Looking around and realizing that she wouldn't be able to get away she yelled to the other humans "RUN, NOW" she grinned at the two orcs attacking her and flicked her whip, trying again to hit Orchan's club arm, hopeing to hit it this time.

The creature stopped when she began running, and did not attempt to follow her immediately. His face appeared slightly puzzled at her sudden departure, but didn't seem to dull his spirits too much as shortly after she disappeared into the trees, he began following her again. Just before he crossed the treeline he paused and looked back behind him to survey the orc camp one more time, then slunk unnoticed into the brush.

Correctly recalculating the weight of the whip, Ruby managed to strike Orkhan's arm this time. The end of the whip cracked against his wrist, then proceeded to wrap several times around his club like it was designed to do upon contacting something narrow, like the wooden club. The slash gave him a red welt where the whip had contacted, but wasn't quite as mean looking as the same wound was on Ruby's back because his skin was considerably thicker and tougher. He jerked his arm back to swing again, pulling the end of the whip with it.

Ruby stumbled forward with the whip when he pulled it. She hadn't expected it to wrap around that way and had to let go of the whip or be pulled right into his arms.

Orkhan threw out his arms, the whip still dangling from the club. In another situation it might have looked like he was going to hug her. Instead, the gesture was meant partially as a dare to continue, but also as a taunt to say 'what are you going to do?'. "Is that it, human?" He sneered, grinning with his yellowed teeth and awful breath. "Is that your last stand, the last thing you wanted to accomplish before your death?" He crouched down a little bit further to look her more in the eye, "I will enjoy killing you."

Ruby fisted her hands, then struck out. "I would enjoy killing you."

Orkhan chuckled, his shoulders bouncing up and down, at her comment. "Of course you would, that only makes it all the more interesting for me." He reached out with his paw of a hand and closed his fist around her hair, then dragged her closer to him. "Don't worry, this will only hurt for a little bit..."
