I have a really loud duck too. She just does this when I'm around.

Mine do this when anyone walks up I think they know it means food and cuddles and they get all excited

Ah, thanks! I think that is the case, I do think they know I am the one that gives them food, water, and all types of treats!

I also have loud ducks. I call them my shout quackers. They shout quack when they hear my voice, when they see me, when they hear my car pull up, and any other time they need attention. They have very important needs, you see.

They also shout quack to alert me of danger. Like strange humans invading our backyard, or scary hawks.

I also have a female duck who is very quiet - she rarely quacks. I've had my ducks for almost 6 years and their quacking has remained consistent.
