"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Farm raised WHITE eggs are better than store bought BROWN eggs!

Local farm raised anything is better commercial raised anything.

This week we had watermelons for $5 each. Wal-Mart had some for $4. Wal-Mart imported from Florida. Ours came from our local farms. Always support your local farmers!

They are a Silkie / Frizzled Cochin cross and are called Sizzles. The two in that pic are show quality Sizzles….mine are more like pet quality when compared to those two.
Here are some pics of mine...

Terri your in luck, lol! I bought two Silkie Roos and had them over my 4 Sizzle girls for the last few months. I ended up setting just over 70 eggs from this group. So I have some for you, LOL!!!

Actually when you do this with the Silkie Roos it improves the Silkie qualities but only about 1/4 of what hatches is what your looking for. The rest are all Silkie feathered or smooth feathered and look like Silkies. So far I had 40 eggs hatch and I have 12 or 13 that I kept, the rest of them (the Silkie Feathered birds) I gave away already. I still have about another 35 eggs I'm still waiting on to hatch and hopefully will get a few more Sizzles that I can grow out. My next breeding, sometime next year, when all these chicks grow out I will use a Smooth Sizzle over a Frizzled Sizzle and about 75% will come out looking like the birds in the pics above. I'll also have more birds to breed at that point so Spring of next year should be a lot of fun for my Sizzle project!

Here's some pics of my new baby peas -- they got to go out & play yesterday!
In the group of three, the white pea is Amtrak, hatched from an egg Julie gave me on 6-15. The other two were hatched from my peas on 6-23. All the rest are from my birds.
The group of four were hatched last week on July 4th - Independence peachicks!
I have a group of eight eggs scheduled to hatch next week, and the final two eggs of the year are due 7-27.
All in all, I think they did pretty good for their first breeding season. All four of my adults just turned 2 years old.
Parents are Vishnu & White Spot - IB split white girls, boys are Romeo - silver pied male split peach & D'artagnan, Buford Bronze male split silver pied.

I'm glade that I could help you out with some chicks since you were having the same luck as me with the eggs. Yea, that worked out for us both! Also, please let me know if you hear anything about any local shows and I'll do the same for you. I sure would like to go check one out, 4H, FFA or whatever.

Thanks again,
Chris
