"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

We shall see.

And can you believe the girls started laying eggs AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :barnie

I'm losing my mind. I will just put the eggs under whatever is broody at the time. :/

Your peahens are laying again?
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My boys are dropping their tails - no eggs here in over 2 weeks & if they did lay the eggs wouldn't be fertile. I am DONE! Finished, caput, fini.

and the magnificent seven is now the Great Eight - as the last egg did finally hatch. Little one has one weak leg so is in a band-aid brace for 24 hours or so, but was standing up straight & toes straight & bopping around w/the rest of them this morning. I had two eggs left, one clear & one only partially developed. So out of 22 eggs set this year, I hatched 15 peachicks. I'm happy!

YES !!!!!!!!!!!! They are laying again !!!!!!! This is ridiculous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :barnie

Congrats on the final egg hatching !!!!!!

You had a GREAT pea hatching year Terri. :bow

I hope that I am NEVER that lucky!!!!!!!! :lau That is too much for me. :gig

Well I happen to know of a place that is more than willing to take any unwanted pea eggs lol

Hey I already did the hard work for you --- get some of my chicks! I can't afford to feed 19 peacocks!

As much as I want some, I know they won't stay at my property. I have NO trees out there right now. I'd hate to have them cooped up their whole life. Maybe in a few years when I'm a little more settled. You'll be up to your ears in peas by then!

Does anyone buy their feed from a local feed mill? I figure some of the breeders with a lot of. Irds might. So.... Are there any in north louisiana (preferably close to shreveport)?

So if I have trees then the peacocks will roost in them at night? I wouldn't need to build them a separate coop?

I was SO happy to break down my bator & sterilize it - letting it dry real good & tonight will pack it up & store it for the year. I'm tired, too!
My wife asked me this morning if we could take a break for a bit. I have 20 RIR that go into lockdown today. I'll clean everything up and enjoy them for a while.

They will. But you have to get them grown up enough that owls won't get them. The only time we had a free roaming peahen, she liked to roost on top of our garage more than trees, but she was imprinted on people. It was quite messy....I keep my current 2 pair in a 40 x 60 foot pen with an open front coop, also enclosed on top. Too many coyotes in our area to risk letting them roam.

They all should be raised in a coop, but I like to let them free range as they get old. They tend to like shady areas with some brush to scratch around in. I don't have any of that, so they'd surely end up at my neighbors house!
