"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Can any recommend a feed that I can feed to ALL my animals (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys)? I have been using Flockraiser pellets but the feed store that I have been buying it from has had molded feed for the last 2 months, so I have been using Flockraiser crumble from TSC but I HATE the crumble. I really, really, really need a feed that all of them can eat regardless of their age. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
On Ranch Outlets web site it shows Flock Raiser and lists crumble or pellets in feed form don't know which one they carry if not both and if the price is right it's only $14.95

Very beautiful bird. Did the older gentleman up the road from you ever find any pullets? I've been on the search for Frizzle Cochin Bantams and Cochin Bantams (another bobcat decided to go on a serial killing spree yet again), but it seems they're not very popular around here. I also went to the last chicken swap at TSC and there wasn't very many people there at all. I left with one Cuckoo Maran pullet. I'm sure it was due to the cold weather though.

I have been getting Flock Raiser pellets at Ranch Outlet but this is one of the stores where the feed is always molded. They are marked off of my list. :/

The price of their pellets is $17.50.

Thanks

No, the guy never found anything yet. I'm still looking for pullets for him. I didn't go the chicken swap. Glad you found something.

That sounds like a good "Reality Show". Kinda like Wife Swap.

I think we should try to make "Farm Swap" happen.

Yes, you have me outnumbered. I would love the challenge.

I only have about 300+ animals. If we did "Farm Swap" your duties would include skeeter control (fogging the entire yard/chicken yard every night, making sure the zapper iszapping, spraying about 200 chickens and turkeys with Avon Skin So Soft EVERY night to make sure the skeeters don't bite them. Running after guineas and mid age turkeys or plucking them from the fence or pecan trees and throwing their butts wherever you can.

And let's not forget this fella (PRINCE) who loves to roost 8+ feet high in the air. You will have to FIND, CATCH and lock his butt UP!
WHERE'S WALDO? Can you spot the little rug rat?

You could surely come on feed day. When you would get to my house, you would have to let ALL of the animals out of the chicken yard into the BIG human yard for about 3 hours. They usually put themselves back but you may have to heard the sheep back in. As far as feed, you would only have to pick up, load and unload about 2, 500 lbs of feed and store all feed in 55 gallon trash cans in feed storage house, fill up all feeders for all of the animals (20 - 25 feeders depending on if I have itty bitties), (with one large feeder needing 350 lbs of feed), change the water in all swimming pools (9 pools total), change out waterers and fill other water containers for other animals (35 waterers total) AM & PM, make sure sheep and goat have hay, pick eggs daily (about 10+ dozen -in about 10 different locations throughout the property), fill egg orders for the next day delivery or pick up (orders as many as 30 dozen eggs). I'm sure I'm leaving out a chore or 2 but for the most part, that would be it. And then the last thing of the night is to go out and closed and lock chicken coops and houses making sure that all birds are in. Let me know when you're ready to Farm Swap.

Oh, I forgot about feeding the stray cats. I only have 4 strays.

Woaw, Girl, When do you have any time to enjoy your flocks and herds? You have to stop and smell the manure, for a while while you still can. Life is short (and this is only a test)!!!

Sorry,.. I just got to reading the thread today,.. it's been so beautiful outside that we've been spending every waking moment out there!

I have used a couple of different recipes,.. to see what we liked and this is the one my family likes the best

Yields: 8 cups
2 lbs kumquat

1 meyer lemon
8 1/2 cups sugar
6 cups water
1 tsp vanilla extract
8-1/2-pint Mason jars

Squeeze the lemon. Gather the juice and pulp.
Wash the kumquats and thinly slice them using a sharp chef knife. Discard all the seeds and the white center membrane.
Place the sliced kumquats, lime, water and sugar in a pot. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to a medium low and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat. The content should be syrupy. Cover, set aside and let it sit overnight (at least 18 hours) at room temperature.
The following day, bring the kumquat syrup to a boil, then reduce a simmer for one hour. Stir every now and then using a wooden spoon. Bring back a boil. Skim any foam that develops on the top before pouring into the Mason jars. Add the vanilla extract.
Ladel into prepared jars leaving 1/4 headspace and use a 10min. processing time in a water bath.
I have tried the no pectin recipes but found that they just didn't set up as well as I like,.. but it was more of a wonderful sauce,..

It's so pretty,..and it's about the only good use I have found for kumquats!
How much picten? If you don't mind my asking!

Thank you so much. If we can get a few friends to vote and a couple to vote daily, I think Primrose will be the first chicken to represent The Advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness. Power to the chickens! Primrose says "Eat Mor Bef."
