"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I try to remain as professional as possible, but sometimes it takes all I have not to die laughing at the nonsense that seems to keep spilling out of their mouth!

Are any of you members of the poultry swap pages on facebook? You should see the crazy stuff they post on there!

Some real Honey Boo Boo style madness! I don't want to seem like a witch and keep correcting people, but I can't stand the thought of someone else reading it and thinking it's true!
I am on several facebook pages--I have actually just about stopped even visiting all of the Louisiana Poultry pages I know of. I tend to stick to the "Rare Breed" pages as most people there usually know what they are doing. I got frustrated on one last week when the mod started telling someone who was helping answer questions to "shut up or she would be blocked"...geez...if you don't know the answers to questions for newbies, let someone else answer. I certainly don't know everything and need advice sometimes, too. You'll have to PM me who you are Gracie...we can compare notes on the Honey BooBoos out there.

Good morning ya'll.

I am getting some VERY interesting calls and emails about my turkey eggs and guinea eggs that I have for sale. You tell people a price and they try to make an offer that is half of what your price is. SERIOUSLY?? REALLY?? Come on dude! Do I look like Wendy Water Head?

I guess these people don't realize that when these eggs hatch, they have a small fortune/investment.

And they expect to get the eggs for nearly free. NOT !!!!!!

I pick and choose who I give deals and freebies to and it's not to any Tom, Harry and Honey Boo Boo that emails or calls me. It's for people that I know or people that I have chosen to "pay it forward" to.

Have a great day ya'll.

Some of the local pages do make me cringe. However, the page for our local swap isn't too bad. We post what we are looking for and what we are bringing and typically most birds are sold before we even unload them. I don't ever end up bringing birds home that people had already laid claim to. Only one person has ever asked for a discount and I told them not unless they buy a certain amount and then this is the price. IF they would persist, I would just start increasing the price with every message and then they get mad and blow away.

You are always going to have Mama Boo Boo and Jimmy Joe Cheap____ (you-know-what) on those threads. They are everywhere though. My husband is a remodel contractor...a really good one. He just did an estimate for a bathroom remodel in a half million dollar home and the guy tried every which way to get the price cut on the labor: He never offered to get less expensive cabinets than the $4,000 ones he picked or look at marble that was under $10/foot. I used to sell hand painted crocks at shows and would ALWAYS have people tell me my prices were too high. My response is good, you don't deserve to own anything I have for sale anyway. However, you will also find a few awesome people too. Here is a good example....

I connected with an awesome Cornish breeder from Plauncheville, LA on one of the Louisiana Facebook pages a couple days ago. He and I exchanged several messages about my purchasing some of his WL Red Cornish and then we spoke on the phone last night. By the end of the conversation, he decided to gift me hatching eggs. No matter how many times and different ways I tried offering payment, he flat out refused.

So don't let a few bad apples or highly functioning rocks ruin the entire barrel sort of thing. You wouldn't want to miss that one diamond in the pile of coal.

I saw that post too. I thought that was pretty rude. Like y'all said they have some characters on there and some of the things and birds (breeds) being posted are questionable. I'm about to do like you and refrain from those sights and stick to the ones for the particular breeds I'm into. If I need entertainment for the day I'll just pop over and read some of the posts lol
