I got my first egg today. At least she was close. It was laid on top of the nest box.

2012 Mazda2 Sport... It's not what I originally wanted, but I couldn't resist. It's my favorite color... Yes, it is very, very BLUE!so what did you end up getting? we need pics!
Phew! Doesn't hurt when the officer is a friend.I found three cases of sherbert containers, no lids though. They are just perfect for potted plants. I was out picking them up all over the road, two of the boxes had busted. a state trooper pulled up behind me and put his lights on. I about crapped my pants! He took the info off of the box and would charge the company for littering. He grew up two doors down from me! He helped me load as many of them as we could get into the van. He kept me safe in my hour of stupidity. I think we had almost 1000 of them!
I think you are a normal caring person. It made me cry just to read and imagine that horrible scene, and I didn't even have to see it. I'm glad you quit that crazy mean lady.how cool is that?!?! I bet you were glad it was babies and not wasps!
I found a nest of barn swallows over the weekend...... The nest was under the porch overhang at the old woman's house that I work for on the weekends. I made the mistake of telling her I found a bird nest... This old woman actually followed me out to the porch and told me to knock down the nest and she would watch me do it (she knows that I would have just told her I did it). After arguing with her for a few minutes, I told her that if she wanted it down, she could knock it down and handed her the broom. She is a little frail 89 year old lady, but she sure as heck took that broom from me and batted that nest like it was a pinata. I went back in the house to finish up my "list of chores". The next thing I know, she's yelling at me to come help her because there were babies in the nest!! She had knocked the nest down and was hitting the babies with the broom!!!
Needless to say, I told her that I was done. I quit there on the spot! I cried the whole way home and most of the night. I guess I'm just too soft hearted, but I felt like she was out of line!
Love that post!!! I can just imagine those birds going crazy!Yeah my bunch(peas) is out there carrying on like there's no tomorrow. It scares the crap outta my chicken flocks and they cackle and act and sounds as if all H e LLdoublletoothpicsticks has come up from beneath. LOL it gets quite loud and annoying at times LOL

Congratulations!! I remember my first egg. It felt like I had birthed it myself, I was so excited and proud of my chicken.
I have no idea what they are. There were 5 and the mom wasn't there. We just closed it up and walked away. Very small. We may check on them later , but at that size we figured best to disturb them as little as possible.WOW !!!!!!!!!!! How cool is that? What kind are they? Did you all leave them there? Are they doing ok?
