It's funny I was just about to post this same link to see if anyone else could get anything to come up cause I can't!!

Nope, I can't get anything to come up. Looks like it's not working right now.

I'll have to check it out later!!

I came home today and was picking eggs and I found this little surprise. My smart Bourbon Red Turkey hens chose to lay their eggs in the chicken house in the nesting boxes. Unfortunately, this was a not a good place to lay and set on eggs and I knew it but I was not going to try to move a broody turkey hen. They are too strong. So, I decided to come up with a plan (that I thought would work at the time). I decided that as soon as the baby turkeys would hatch, I would move both mom and chicks to a safe place. I thought that as soon as mom saw her babies, she would be willing to be moved with them. Well, how wrong was I. I tried moving baby, mom and eggs (still more to hatch) to the brooder pen but it did not work. She fought tooth and nail to get out of there. I tried showing her the new baby but she was not having it. I tried so many things tonight until I just gave up. I even tried putting the baby with some of the new chicks that were born but the chicks knew that the turkey was not a part of their family and they started pecking her, so I had to take the baby turkey out. I tried everything that I could think of before I gave up. Leaving the baby in the chicken house in the nesting box would put the baby in danger. So now, this baby is inside with me. So, I have to set up a brooder inside with food and water and a heat lamp. I think I have my work cut out for me.

Wish me luck.

Awww..., to cute! I have a lonely baby goose... if you want to sell/bargain/trade. I have an antique flour cupboard with the flour sifter in it. It's not in great shape but I thought about you after the Expo seeing how much you enjoy antiques. I am looking to get rid of it.

I've got a question for you frequent incubators out there. I have a chick, the first one that hatched today has something wrong with one of his/her legs. It keeps one tucked under it and the other out straight. It won't even try to get up it just scoots around laying flat! Have ya'll had any experience with this?? And did the problem correct it self?? I'm just so worried I'll have to cull this chick.

Missie, the chick may have spraddle leg. You may need to practice "Chicken Physical Therapy"

If it works, you can add P.T. after your name.

After 24 - 48 hours it'll usually straighten out the problem. Sometimes it may take a little longer. Most of the time it works. I've had one or two that this therapy did not work on. They would only scoot on their butts with a lot of effort. If that happens, you really don't have a choice but to cull that chick. Here's a link for an explanation of the procedure with good visuals.
