The second one that hatched looks like big glob of stuff is hanging off of it. I know I've read that the yolk sometimes doesn't get absorbed but this is kinda red looking stuff!! Man it looks like I'm not going to sleep tonight!! I have 4 more that are pipped.

Yes, I agree with gambysfarm. It looks like spraddle leg. I have had a few babis that have had that in the past. I use thread to get both legs in the place where they would usually be. I kept it on for a few days and the legs were back to normal.

Good Luck. Grab a cup of coffee. Sounds like a long night for you.

Okay I taped it's leg up so we'll see. It almost looks like one of it's feet is not working properly!!

Here's a couple of pics of the other one!! Now it's moving around just fine!!

Yeah; this baby looks like spraddle leg to me. Bandaid the legs and I bet by tomorrow night it'll be standing up. When you first put the bandaids on they'll fall all over themselves. Try to put them in a box with only a few new babies because the older ones will walk all over them.

... Oh and I had already put it in a shoe box in the brooder cause the other babies were doing just that!!

Thanks for all the help!!

I don't know what to make of the one with the stuff hanging out. The few that I've had like that usually don't survive. They live for a few days; usually stay on the scrawny side, and then die. Brace yourself for the worst..., if it survives celebrate.

It's crazy how some hatches will go smooth, and other times it's just one thing after another. I hope things straighten out and the rest of your hatch goes OK.

Yes... it really just depends on what that gunk is.. once you get it out of the bator, look at it's belly and see the gunk is going all the way in the navel or just kinda hooked on to the cord.
