"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'm glad that you were able to identify it for me. I would have NEVER guessed. Looks like I have 4 of them. It looks like they are all hens. If they don't lay a ton of eggs, then I may not be keeping them either.

Where did you get yours from?

It came from McMurray hatchery with my meat chickens.  If I could only go back and uncheck that stupid little box ....... ((sigh)).........that stupid little booger almost drew blood last night!  I went to check on him and give him greens and put in some fresh hay....etc.  He came right at me and bit my hand twice.
I had to walk away.  Little turd.

In to be completely honest I couldn't 'do the deed' either.  I really didn't have much of a chance to even ask myself to do that though.  Superman was on the ball getting the job done.  I washed the bird, scalded the bird, pluck the bird, wash the bird again.....then set it on the edge of the table where he could grab it to put it on his cutting board and so on.  I guess we were pushing each other and trying to beat sundown.  I would do it if I HAD to I guess, but it wouldn't be easy for me.

LOL @ little turd. :lau

I will have to learn how to do it myself because my "on call" people won't always be around to do it. :/

Y'all may think that I'm crazy... but.... Has anyone ever tried using diapers on their birds or having them in the house? I'm just wondering...

Not crazy and yes people do use diapers on chickens, ducks, geese, lamb, etc. You name it, they've had diapers on them. These days chickens and other animals have a full wardrobe (diapers, saddles, shirts, socks, bras, hats, gloves, etc.) I think they have more items than people do. http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Diapers-and-Saddles/Chicken-Diaper-Free-shipping-p494.aspx http://www.pamperyourpoultry.com/diaper_catalog.asp http://money.msn.com/now/post.aspx?post=f0f1fd56-c19e-46cf-b34e-bf81fbb7e439

My daughter wants little rhinestone collars and leashes so she can take her ducks to the lake with her.

That would be a great project at home. She could probably sell some as well. One of my lambs and other farm animals will be a part of Youth Bible Class for my church in a couple weeks and I need to buy him a harness, so I have been looking for something "flashy" for him.

When I first read about someone "doing the deed" on this thread, I was shocked. Do you mean not every chicken is an egg laying pet???? Now, I feel differently and would love to be able to eat my own meat. One thing I did to overcome the shock was to look up "the deed" on the internet. There was a lady that sang to her chicken and told it what a good chicken it was and stroked it and the chicken just got so limp and relaxed between her legs and when she did the deed, it didn't even move or make a sound. It was very peaceful. Now, I know not everyone can take such a long time to do the deed, but if I had to do it, I think I would do it her way.

On youtube? I think I watched the same one, she wore a pink scarf. I had to watch a few videos, I think 5 or 6, so I was familiar with different methods and to kind of desensitize myself. Those meaties were STRONG though. I don't think I could hold them like that, but I could with an old hen maybe.

I'm not sure that I will ever be able to do it. :/
