"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Got started on my coop today. I used power tools! And I didn't hurt myself!
We got the base, floor and walls framed. Started the siding and ran out of steam.
It doesn't look like much, but that took us 7 hours. My daddy is a perfectionist. That will be the most perfectly level, absolutely square, hurricane proof chicken house ever when we get done.

Hi! I'm new to this board and new to chickens! My family and I live in Morgan City and are thinking about getting a small backyard flock. We long for a large farm someday, but that's just not possible for a while I think. I'm researching breeds that are good for the heat, and are relatively quiet for the neighborhood and are friendly. I have a 7 year old that wants to be able to handle them and they'll be pets for sure. I guarantee you they'll all have names..lol

Cant' wait to learn more here and look through this post!

Looking great! Production on my coop is at a stand-still until my Father-in-Law gets back in town. I can't seem to get the hubby to get out there and help me, and can't do a lot by myself. I'm beginning to wonder if it will be done on time, lol.

Keep posting updates on yours!

WELCOME!
I am new too. From my limited chicken experience, I can tell you that my Buff Orpingtons are the sweeties of my little flock.
