"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

OK, 5:00 really REALLY needs to get here! I just got outbid on an Ebay auction for some eggs. Like I need to be hatching chicks right now, right?

Long slow boring Friday afternoons are Trouble for me, capital “T”!

I'm going to go play Spider Solitaire...

Well I had a meaty kill himself today. I found him head down and butt up in the feed trough. On closer inspection it seems that he ate himself to death and popped his crop. Processing was set for next weekend!
Aw, bummer! Did you get to use him at all? What are you giving them to add fat? I had read to just start gradually increasing scratch. So I tried it. Worked pretty good.

Yes, I found him quickly after and was able to use him. I have been mixing cracked corn in their feed but they don't seem to have a shut off switch like my layers and choose to eat to the corn instead of digging it out. I think making it harder to get too full will be the trick. Also, I may be processing some of the known gorgers this weekend and waiting until next weekend for the rest as planned.

Well, that whole story left me speechless. Amazing!!

This somehow reminds me of the ancient Romans.

Let's fast-forward to the Great Brit age -- Off with their heads!

(sorry but there's no head-chopping-off icon).

Rough rice or paddy rice is rice as it comes from the field with the rice kernels are still encased in an inedible, protective hull.

Yes it is perfectly fine to use in a scratch mix I used to feed it years ago we would go to Mamou and get the hulls for bedding in the broiler houses and one could purchase that rough rice for cheap cheap at the rice mill. I've fed hundreds of #s of it. The myth of the exploding birds is crap. If it were true there wouldn't be a kajillion red wing blackbirds out in the rice fields having their way with the farmers profits I bet the farmers wished the birds would pop HUH?
