WOW! New2TheCoop, I love your BYC page! I haven't created one but, after seeing yours, I guess I'd better get busy. Nice flock of birds you have there. What are you going to do with 14 roosters? Before too long they'll start fighting over your hens. You might want to start making plans now for what you'll do with them. Also, I don't think you want your hens to have to put up with 14 roosters with raging hormones.

Your BYC page looks great. I deleted mine a while back with intentions on re-doing it but never got around to doing it.

I agree with

I have a 5 month of OEG rooster that is the first one out of the gates in the morning when I open the coops. He has got to go!!! He is too much trouble. I have been looking to re-home for a couple of months now. It's hard to re-home roosters, so you may want to get started early, unless you plan on processing those roosters.

I am keeping one, the rest will be dinner. I am going to move them into an old dog pen, I just have to get around to putting wire on the top and bottom for protection.

Oh, Good! I'm glad to hear that you have a plan. You'll have some mighty tasty dinners pretty soon.

Most of my chickens are in dog kennels with a roof on it. They make good temporary pens. The chickens do a nice job of weedeating around their pens. Since they eat all the grass they can reach I never have to trim around their pens.

Hi everybody-- I am slowly crawling back into the land of the living after having a 24 hour bug of some sort. Welcome to BYC Black Widow!
I guess I need to get busy & build my page too.
Julie sure hope you get some kind of solution for your Tom. He looks like a real sweetheart & is so pretty! & you know I am terrified of turkeys (I was attacked by one when I was a kid & I have never forgotten it)! Gramby I'm so sorry we didn't get to hook up but maybe one of these days. Some lucky person is going to have some beautiful BLRWs for sure!

OK got to get to work on the stack on my desk. Have a good Friday everybody!

Good morning everyone. I hope that everyone is excited that today is Friday.

Terri - Sorry to hear about our bug. I didn't know that you were under the weather. Glad that you're feeling better. I hope that I can get my Tom back to his old self. I feel so helpless being as though I can't fix him this time. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because it seems like everybody's turkeys are dieing with this wry neck. It seems almost every other day someone is posting in the turkey section that their turkey is sick and then 3 days later, they are updating their post and saying their turkey died. It's scary.

I will catch my Tom tonight and put him in a large dog kennel, so he will be ready to go at 6:00 AM in the morning. I will taking a poop sample in as well in the event they need some "fresh" poop for testing. I had already emailed a 2 page report to the vet on Monday along with pics, so that he has the opportunity to review my Tom's case before I get their tomorrow. I wanted to give him a heads up on this monster of a problem. We'll see what happens.

My muscovy ducklings started hatching on yesterday. I wasn't able to get any pics because the mother was in attack/protection mode, so I didn't bother her.

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am in the Covington area and found someone with Black Copper Marans chicks with feathered feet. They are selling them $75 a dozen, but I'm only looking for 6. Minimum order is 12. Anyone here in Covington or the surrounding area that wants to go in with me on some of these chicks? I'd get 12 for myself, but my chicken population is fast approaching the limits of my coop

PM me if interested.
