"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Grats Grambys!!! What kind did you get?

I still having a small problem with my super mondo incubator.. It held temps great for the first two days, but highs here were in the high 80's today and the temp of the bator climbed to 106.. Gotta get that figured out before I set my buttload of eggs. (10 dozen pekin duck eggs)

Julie, I just set 3 dozen duck eggs, and 4 dozen chicken eggs. This weekend I'll be turning eggs.. sigh I really need 1 LG turner, and 1 Hova turner.

Terri.. welcome back to the land of confusion.. I mean living..

I would hate to tear down a house to rebuild it.. Ugh!

I got a GQF 1500 incubator. It should arrive in a few days. I opted for one without the hatching drawer since I have four styrofoam incubators that I can use for hatching. That way it'll stay clean.

Hope you get your incubator sorted out. On the eggturners, I really like the Little Giant Eggturner rather than the Hova Bator Eggturner. I have three Little Giant turners and one Hova Bator turner. Compared to the Little Giant, I find that the Hova turner is flemsy and cheaply made. It's hard to handle because it tends to want to fall apart in moving it around. The Little Giant Eggturners will fit in the Hova Bators. They are practically the same size and design. If it were me, I would get the Little Giant Eggturners.

So everyone told me to be careful getting chickens because I have a dog. But I thought to myself, "She's such a sweet dog! She loves all animals and just wants to play with them. I'm sure I can teach her to not hurt them." She's been very curious about them since I brought their little fuzzy butts home. She likes to stand on a box outside of their brooder and just watch them. When I put them outside in a little cage, she will lay down near them and try to lick them through the bars as they scratch around.

Yesterday, a neighbor brought his daughter over to see the chicks. They had their own dog in tow. Their dog would go up to the cage and bark bark bark bark bark. And my sweet dog would run over to him and stick her nose on his and back him away from her chicks!! It was the cutest thing! I wish I could have got it on video. She loves her babies, lol!

Man--it seems like everytime I think that I'm able to get back on here more often, something pulls me away!

I do want to let all the Louisiana folks know that I am now hatching out some BLRW's from my stock. My girls have been laying steady now for a few months, so the first round of eggs went into the bator' last week. It's crazy how many people want some from my girls! As I was selling my buffs and some GLW's--everyone took note of the BLRW and quickly asked to be called when we have some available. Can't act too surprised though, I know when they caught my eye I was hooked from the moment I seen them. Anyhow, so with that said, I'd like to extend the same offer here as I am doing for the local crowd in my area that I am starting up a waiting list. If you'd be interested in some BLRW's--shoot me a message. It'll be for local pickup only, and they're $5.00 a chick. My girls and roo have such beautiful lacing. My hens are from bluepoultry.com and the roo I am using now is from chickenscratchpoultry. I do have pictures, but they take sooo long to upload because the file is so big. If you'd like a picture of my girls and my roo, let me know and I'll show'em to you. If you want to be on the waiting list--let me know how many you'd like.
