"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yes, Pam, I have been in business myself Owned and operated 2 construction companies, building single family homes and Federally subsidized single family homes. Worked with subs from 5 in the morning till dark, sometimes 5 houses going on at once, all different stages, then with clients/customers and prospectives  till after 10PM. Could not even go to the grocery without someone recognizing me to pick my brain. Got total burnout, because I was still raising a family and had 10 rentals, and you know how that is. Never rented a place I would not live in myself and kept them in top shape, but some tenants can tare up a place fast, like a neighbor's pet squirrel getting into the attic and eating the insulation off the A/C ductwork and not telling me until the kitchen ceiling starts falling in! Than later, bought a marina on Grand Isle that became a money pit in a den of thieves! But don't get me started on that one.   :duc   When I was young, often went hungry and was Thankful on Thanksgiving for a pancake dinner. No shame in being poor, as a kid, and homeless for 3 years after Katrina and Rita, but there is shame in staying that was out of LAZYNESS, IMHO !

Never once did I say anything about laziness. You have paid taxes in your life. So I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about people who work the system. Ones who can work but don't. It was meant to be a hand up not a hand out. Sorry if a touched nerve. But I do think you read things in what I wrote that weren't their. Pam

I saw on the news today that stores will only be reimbursed the amount that was actually supposed to be on the cards, in other words, tax payer money won't cover it, however, when stores lose that much money we all pay the price. Everyone that did that needs to go to jail. IMHO. JS.
Yes and at least deduct the stolen amount off their cards for as long as it takes to pay it all back by doing without. IMO and I wonder if the DA's really thought they could get away Scott free? Oh never mind, duh, Yeah, I forget whom I'm referencing sometimes(and yes all that are on assisted help aren't stupid, I know) BUT... well the rest of the story I shall not carry on with. J/S is all.

I went to Walmart for some staple items today and am glad I didn't want any junk food. I had gotten down to our last 5gal bucket of rice (in almost every meal here) and wanted to restock. There was NO junk food of any kind there. The only thing they had was ground beef, noodles, rice, white milk, and veggies. Everything else was cleared out. It looked worse than when Rita came threw. The poor employees were shaking their heads and the store still looked trashed. Heck it looked like they passed a law banning junk food.

With what money? If they don't raise the debt limit there may be no food stamps next month. I think they need to stop raising it until they can figure out a real plausible budget. However, that would put some truly needy people in a hard spot. The only thing that can be done then is to help each other out.

That store sounds ilke a store about 7 miles from my house. The store is 3 times higher than walmart and they make a killing on the food stamp cards. It's too expensive for me to shop at.
The Piggly Willglys near me isn't so pricey, if you shop the sales, especially on meat and veggies, but Winn Dixie is like the one he describes and I can't afford to shop there, but the parking lot is always full!

kuntrygirl what was that coupon website you mentioned before?

We have a friend that is deployed. He called yesterday

We talked to his wife this morning and they need toothpaste! She is going to check with him again and get a list of items that he and other guys need. She said they get tons of toothbrushes, but not hardly any toothpaste. It means a lot to us to be able to help make those guys and gals comfortable as they can be. I'm going to make them cookies! I'm excited to send them something!
Be sure you use the boxes marked for shipping to military, they are so much cheaper to ship! And

on all the good deeds!
