Okey dokey
I know. Jim was all like "what did you expect it to taste like?
I told him, at that price, maybe filet mignon?
IDK, maybe home-raised will taste better. I'll find out!
I really like those little fryers I get at Mac's. They aren't real fatty & roast beautifully.
Maybe this one was still too "commercialized".

I posted questions about my 100 broilers. Check out some of the replies and check out this fabulous chicken tractor.

I saw that. That's exactly the tractor I want to build!

I may have to have it modfied not to be so tall. It's a great idea to walk in and walk out but I would want to have some type of openings at the top to put food and water in from all sides. I"ll have to think about this. :/

I had it figured in my head at about a ton of feed for the 100 head thats why I told you that will be a lot of poop too
16.5x100
1,650 (his average) + water= LOTS of poop and at $76 a hundred Organic feed x16.5= $1254 dollars in feed. At reg feed prices($34/hundred) it would come out to eh? 561 bucks my figuring

and still lots of poop,

100 chickens processed takes up a a lot of freezer space too

LOL it tastes just like chicken huh?

I think a lot of the organic movement is just mind over matter and mostly an excuse to justify the MONIES spent too, IMO only hope I don't offend anyone by my thoughts OK

I'm not a geneticist by any means, but I think the animals have to be just close enough to cross. I know chickens and ducks cannot cross. They are too different. Did you know that some people actually believe that cabbits exist? (cat X rabbit)

When someone claimed that chickens X ducks can happen because cats X rabbits can happen I wanted to

I looked into it and there are actually a number of people that think so.

No such thing as a cabbit. That was a hoax from way back when I was a grasshopper!

Don't forget the humane and health benefits! I have College athletes that buy eggs from me, because they say when they buy store bought eggs, they test positive for steroids! If you can grow a lot of your own feed, you come out a lot healthier and a lot cheaper. My next project is mealworms as soon as I can get my butt to MrsMagoo's house! LOL

Filet Mignon might have been cheaper. It occasionally go on sale in Hammond area at LeBlanc's for $9,99 a pound! Not often, after all there is only about 15 pounds in a whole steer, but when it does, I get as many as I can afford to and we have it on special occasions. You might have been getting Cornish hens and not small fryers. Fryers are processed at 6 to 8 weeks old, but Cornish hens are the same CX cross, but processed at 4 weeks old and are a different taste, sort of. Longhorn Steakhouse buys them and calls them Roasted Chicken, but you get 1/2 and it is very tiny and sometimes too soft(overcooked). It's enough for me along with the salad, but hubby would call it the appetizers and then be looking for the main course! LOL He is not that big of an eater, they are just that tiny. About twice the size of a quail.
