"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'm setting a batch now for my meaties that are arriving friday! Oh I can't wait to use it on the meaties to see a difference lol
Its not a dumb question. FF is chickens regular crumbles that have water and some un pasteurized apple vinegar(I use Braggs) mixed up in a bucket and allowed to ferment. Some people don't even use the vinegar. There is a GREAT thread on FF here on byc. They talk about how to keep it and the many benefits of feeding with FF.

Does anyone currently use a watering systems where the water is collected when it rains and you use the rain water to water your animals?

I was given several 250 gallon tanks and I am trying to get my watering system together (or at least by next summer).

I seen so really good ideas on Pintrest I was wanting to set one up myself

I will have to check it out. Thanks.

Howdy La-yers! We had frost at the edge of the field this morning. I had to break out one of my winter sweaters to wear to work. Now if only the pecans would start falling & the citrus turn! Love this time of year!

Those are great!  You are  wonderful at taking pics!

Look at this!

X2. I just want to be there so badly!!! Love the "Smoky" views. That's what makes those mountains so special, like no others.

Here's what I wonder about chicken rant video: do people that don't have chickens think it is halarious like I do? Or, is it that only the chicken people that i now relate to are the only ones that love it? A few months ago I was talking about the latest goings on with my chickens and my daughter whispered to me, " mom, you're the only one that thinks that's interesting. ". I looked around and, sure enough, everyone was glassy eyed. So, how can some people not be interested? The first time someone talked to me about their chickens I was mesmerized. Was it that I had a dormant chicken gene in me ready to come out. Just wondering.

Well, I slowly progress with my chicken shelter. I prepainted the wood I was going to use and also the backs of the posts because I won't be able to get to it when it's up. I'm building it in situ because it is too heavy and unwieldy to build and move. I did something really dumb. I had this bright idea to put a ladder in the center of what I was building to be like a 3rd saw horse. Haha. I built the ladder into it and had to take it apart to get the ladder out. Only problem is that it is VERY heavy. I know it doesn't look like much yet, but I've worked hard on it.

How many meaties will you have to feed FF? I tried FF a while back but it was too much work. I have too many chickens to try to feed FF. :(

Poor primrose has no flock of her own. Time for some chicken math!!!

Thanks, Pam. She is just not mentally stable bec her little flock died when they were a week old and she was alone for a few weeks, then I got the Black Stars that always teamed up against her. I thought I would never be able to put them in the same coop. Then I got the Amercaunas, but she doesn't like them. The problem is she just became a loner. They all free range fine together, a little peck here and there, but they can get away from each other. It's just the sleeping arrangement. Poor Primrose. She's always been my favorite even though she pecks me really hard sometimes and has to go in the coop if someone comes into the chicken yard.

Poor baby. She has been through so much. What can you do to make her happy again? :hugs

I started putting their pellets in a bowl, adding water and ACV and they love it. It's not technically germinated, but it is a mush that they love. And I still am using less feed.

She gets held and petted the most and secret special treats. I think I can ease her inside the Amercuanas' coop when they get a little bit bigger. They're afraid of her and ball themselves up in the corner when she goes in their coop, but she doesn't have that killer instinct that the Black Stars have always had. Amanda and I called them "the buzzards" until we named them. Prim follows me around in the yard. When I'm building she follows me into the garage and workroom and back into the yard. I do think she knows she is my favorite. Also I think she pecks me bec she wants me to pick her up. I think she'd like it if I never put her down. She just nestles in my arms while I carry her around. Poor little chicken. Or maybe it's the pink tutu I dressed her in last year. Lol.

I'm going to have to read some more about FF and broilers.
