Wow. I am so humbled and privileged that you guys take my problems seriously and give me your advice and solutions. I'm due for a hay run too. One square bale which will last me a month. NOT the huge squares like those, just a tineey weeny regular bale. These fotos really make real for me the VAST difference between you and Julie and Jeff and others on this thread. Thanks so much for your patience and caring for super little guys like me.

My feed bill much less my hay bill is cheap compared to my next door cousin he leases our cow pastures he just spent 5000 smackers on round hay bales for his bulls(maybe winters worth) and I wouldn't even want to guess his feed bill he uses a super sack(ton?) of feed(grain) a week I can go 3+ months on one LOL I gather my own hay for the chickens during mowing season, its free(cost of gas+ rakeing LOL) but hey you gotta mow the lawn right? LOL My feed bill? yeah we don't even think about it, its happy thoughts

and how much I love

them and my hobby, LOL

With my horses, the feed guy calls every Wednesday morning to see how much I need delivered that week. It's CRAZY, but it's one of my "jobs". My chickens are my hobby and I have enjoyed them so much! As far as hay goes, I swipe a little here and there for my chickens. They LOVE scratching through all the leftover hay in the stalls. When I clean stalls, I have 4 or 5 chickens that follow me from stall to stall while I clean. I guess they're looking for dropped feed.

Another glorious day spent in the chicken yard. Had on my earphones and listening to my MP3 player. So nice. I planned on finishing the shingling on the new chicken shelter but got worried whether it would hold my weight. I will do it and take the risk bec I want to finish it. Some fotos.

Added a lattice square on the side that gets the strongest sun.

Unfortunately the Legbar eggs are not going to go anywheres for me. THey all had side saddle air cells and are not making it to hatch. 4/5 are confirmed quitters- far enough along for me to know I l lost 4 pullet chicks.

My own eggs hatched just fine, so I know its not the bator, just the shipped eggs. Alright, someone else has to tag in to be the cream legbar source.

Ahhhh....I'm sorry to hear about your Legbars! That's got to be very frustrating! I've never tried hatching. Maybe one day. I've still got to figure out the rooster thing. It looks like Harry is really going to have to go. He's being a turd again! I had to move him back in with the girls because I needed the stall for the new horse. After a couple of days back with the girls, he was attacking me again. I don't think he likes that they follow me around and don't listen to him. I guess I'm the competition!

We bought a trio of NZ breeders...they wer supposed to be ready to give birth. They didn't. So we call the breeder and they apologize and offer another buck, figuring ours is sterile.
Our buck ODB is on the left lol the new guy they gave us (i swear its a girl tho was told its a boy lol) is on the right...uuuuhhh...mini ODB? Not exactly ready for our program but I made him a cage and put him up with the boys to grow out.

The girls are doing good. Hopefully preggers from a breed attempt almost 2 weeks ago. Lots of waiting...

My non crowing Roo. Maybe he won't crow and I'll keep him...

CX chicks are doing great on the FF, week 3 now and went into the hoop coop.
Going to bring them in the brooder Tuesday & Wednesday night because of the possible freeze :/ but they're lovin the freedom!
