"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Oh learned ones?? :bow I have a question. The eggs on the left are 3 and 4 days ago. The lighter eggs on the right are yesterday and today. So what is the reason this happens sometimes. I think they are pretty and a neat surprise when it happens. But I always wonder WHY. Could it be they just have plenty of calcium and they are depositing extra on the outside? Because if you scratch a bit you can see the shell is the same color as the ones on the left. We have had this happen in any month of the year.
I don't have an answer, but I am curious too. I have someone that lays one with some white on it occasionally. Not as speckled as yours, but similar.

They also disappear when wet, and reappear when dried again. Magic spots ;)

Pam, the joint medicine is for my daughter's dog. Mine is ok. Thanks. I passed the info to her.

As to the spotted egg, I think it was Jeff last year that explained it but I can't remember the answer. Lol. So, he'll need to re-post it. Lol

CAUTION BORED RAMBLE. Yucky day!! Poor girls!! On a day like today I think of Julie's poor Tom turkey she had to bathe and bring in. I took my girls warm oatmeal and warm ripe bananas. I put fresh dry hay under the shelter and in the bunny cage. Their coops are clean and dry with food and water but they will not go in them until it's time to sleep. Personally, I'd go for the coops, but then I'm not a chicken. A little while ago they were all under the bunny hutch, there's a lot of hay under there too, but poor lonely Primrose was in the shelter alone. My guess is that the others won't let her under the hutch, not that it is a better place to be. Funny thing, that pecking order. Primrose was my first. Then the Black Stars that took over top spot. Then much later the Amercauna babies who were on the bottom and Prim was in the middle. But now the Blacks have accepted the Amercaunas and let them in their coop and under the bunny hutch and Prim is back on the bottom. She is still in the dog kennel "coop" on top of the other coops bec no one wants to coop with her. The Blacks would kill her if she tried to go in and the Amercaunas won't go in a coop with her. I love Prim so much. I feel so sorry for all of them in this weather. The rain needs to stop!!! PS I am rambling bec I am bored.

I feel sorry for primrose. My first flock was RIR. We later added 4 amercaunas we had to build a addition to our coup. I hoped one day they would accept each other and all go in the original coop. They never did. They free roamed my yard the RIR would always run the amercaunas off if they wanted too.
So have you thought about getting one or two RIR'S ? Maybe then she'll have a flock of her own. Pam
